Liz & Jared

Summer Wedding | Cushing, MN | Minnesota Wedding

I’ve known Liz for quite some time, so when she reached out and asked me to photograph her wedding day, I couldn’t help but beam with excitement. From the very beginning, Liz envisioned her wedding not as just one day, but as a full weekend celebration surrounded by her favorite people. That vision led her and Jared to the perfect venue: The Barn at Stoney Hills.

Having access to the entire property allowed their wedding to unfold slowly and naturally. Staying on-site with close family and friends created an atmosphere that felt relaxed, intimate, and deeply personal. With rolling views and beautiful spaces at every turn, The Barn at Stoney Hills couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop for their celebration.

The morning began with a thoughtful and creative touch as Liz invited each of her bridesmaids to design their own bouquets. It was such a fun way to start the day—filled with laughter, excitement, and a sense of togetherness as everyone prepared for what was ahead.

When it was time for Liz to step into her wedding dress, the room grew quiet and emotional. I’ve also known Liz’s mom, Kelly, for many years, and photographing the moment she helped her daughter into her gown was incredibly special. It was one of those quiet, meaningful moments that stays with you long after the day is over.

Not long after, I checked in on Jared, who was calm, happy, and ready for the day to begin. Before seeing Liz, he took time to share a first look with both of his parents—something that felt especially intentional amid the busyness of a wedding day. Those moments were filled with hugs, laughter, and so much love.

It was finally time for Liz and Jared to see each other. Their first look was heartfelt and unhurried, the kind where the world seems to fade away. Liz twirled in her dress as Jared took in the sight of his bride, and it was clear just how connected they are in even the quietest moments.

We wandered the property together for portraits, embracing the summer warmth and the natural beauty of the venue. After wedding party and family photos, Liz and Jared took a short pause before heading to the outdoor ceremony site. Surrounded by their loved ones, they exchanged vows and were officially married—just like that.

The reception carried that same joyful energy, filled with heartfelt toasts, a lively dance floor, and carefully chosen desserts. As the evening light softened, we stepped away one last time for golden hour portraits. The warm glow felt like a reflection of their first moments as husband and wife—calm, joyful, and full of promise.

Liz and Jared, it was such an honor to capture your wedding. Your day was a beautiful reflection of your love and the life you’re building together!
